My workstation :)

My new computer and dual monitor!!!
My main monitor is LG LED 22' and sub monitor is Samsung magic screen 20'...
Behind the monitor I have two externals.. 500mb + 1T...
I'm a fan of externals with on & off switch but nowadays externals don't have them which is a shame..
LED monitor has such a crispy colours compare to Samsung.. (Samsung one has green hue compare to LG..)
6 core AMD processor with Quadro 600 graphic card and 650 power is helping me with getting my work done.! :D!!

+ I actually have a rolled up piece of hand tower on the bottom left.. They are for my wrist when I use the mouse for a long time.. It actually helps to have it support your wrist bc it decreases the tension on the wrist when using mouse...

Now back to work... :)

Ceiling Decoration...

This took me a loooong time.. longer than I expected.. much too long...
I wasn't so sure how to approach repetitive design like this one.. and I tweaked the design of it in the middle of modelling this... BAD, BAD IDEA.........
Anyway.. I'm happy with the result..
Tomorrow, more modelling...!!

Books & Cat

I met a friendly bookstore cat that I thought only existed in cartoons and movies.
I was on a quest to get a signed art book of AJ Casson, one of my favourite artist from Group of Seven and I found one at a vintage bookstore downtown Toronto!
When I entered the store, I was greeted by a black cat! She (I think it was she.. If it's a boy, I apologize to the cat...) was bit shy at first but she climbed onto my lap which according to the store clerk was something she doesn't do very often! XD!!!
She patrolled the store and curiously observed the customers...
This, I will remember for the rest of my life.. Never knew I would get greeted my a cat in a bookstore..!

Gamma Correction :D

Studied about gamma correction and linear workflow at Digital Tutors few days ago..
Learned a bit on how to use Physical Sun & Sky in Mental Ray as well..

Without Gamma Correction

With Gamma Correction

Did you know that since how monitor interprets (shows) an image is difference from how our eye sees it, 8-bit images like JPEG, TARGA or BITMAP have been gamma-encoded to look proper?
And since Maya does not factor in your monitor gamma into lighting results, it is necessary to do some gamma correction in order to display proper colour!
